A family of a Muslim cleric in Funzi Island of Kwale County, is searching for his whereabouts following his disappearance after allegedly being arrested by police from his home on Friday night at 2am.

While visiting the family, human rights group Haki Africa said they are following up on the disappearance Mohamed Hussein.

“It is alleged that unknown men who identified themselves as police officers shot in the air and broke into Mohamed’s house at around 2am and arrested him. The men also took pictures of Mohamed and his wife,” said Haki Africa.

Hussein who is the sole bread winner for the family has left behind four children and a wife who are entirely hopeless and in disarray at his disappearance.

“Hussein was never taken to any police station and his whereabouts remain unknown to date,” said the human rights group.
