Over 300 Members of Parliament and senators have resolved to support the building bridges initiative report (BBI).
Reading a joint communique at Naivasha after a consultative meeting bringing together MPs and senators, Siaya Senator James Orengo said they will soon kick off a popularising campaign for the BBI across the country.
He also hinted at a referendum to be conducted soon urging Kenyans to support the document in order to bring far-reaching amendments to the constitution.
” We are requesting all leaders and citizens to join together with us in this noble process of a new constitutional order for the benefit of all Kenyans”, he added.
President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga led the MPs and Senators in the consensus-building conference.
Meanwhile, majority leaders in parliament Amos Kimunya denied allegations that MPs allied to deputy president William Ruto were sidelined and were not invited to the conference.
