More than 300,000 Ferry users will start using the new floating bridge starting next month.

That is according to the Likoni floating bridge project’s chief engineer Mr. Liao Run who has said that the construction of the bridge is at 75 percent.

Run said that already 70 steel connecting the bridge has been installed where the bridge will pass through.

As of now, the construction of the parking lot on the mainland side is nearing completion, according to Run.

KeNHA Coast region Director Mr. Eric Wambua assured residents that the pedestrian bridge would be completed by the end of November.

“We expect the contractor (China Roads and Bridge Corporation) to hand over the bridge to us by November 27”, he said.

The construction of the bridge at a cost of Sh1.7 billion is one of the strategies by the government to reduce the constant human and vehicular congestion at the Likoni ferry.
