COVID-19 Update: 243 test positive, 233 recover and three more die

The country’s COVID-19 infection toll rose to 39,427 on Sunday after 243 more people tested positive for the disease from a sample size of 4,385 tested in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health, all the new infections are Kenyans except six who are foreigners.

174 are males and 69 females with the youngest being a four-month-old infant and the oldest 80 years old.

Nairobi registered the highest number of new infection with 70 cases followed by Nakuru 44, Trans Nzoia 30 and Kisumu 30.

Coast region registered 16 cases in total, 15 from Mombasa and one from Kilifi.

Meanwhile, 233 patients recovered from the disease raising the number of recoveries to 26,659.

219 of the new recoveries were from the home-based care while 14 were discharged from various hospitals across the country.

“Sadly, 3 patients have succumbed to the disease bringing the fatality to 731. Our sincere condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their loved ones,” said MoH.

The country’s total active cases now stand at 12,137
