Lamu County records 10 new COVID-19 cases

Lamu County recorded 10 new COVID-19 cases on Friday after a while of recording zero new infections.

According to a press statement by Health Chief Adiministrative Secretary Dr Mercy Mwangangi, the 10 cases reported from the county are in Lamu west area.

Meanwhile, Coast region recorded 28 out of the 580 cases that were reported nationally.

Lamu, Mombasa and Kilifi are the only counties in the region that recorded new COVID-19 cases, with Mombasa’s 15 cases; Kisauni 5, Likoni 3, Jomvu 2, Mvita 2, Nyali 2 and Changamwe 1.

Kilifi recorded 3 cases, 2 in Kilifi south and 1 from Malindi.

The total number of national infections now stands at 29,334.

Nairobi was leading with 375 new cases, followed by Kajiado with 53, Machakos 23, Busia 22 and Nakuru 15.

Dr Mwangangi pointed that out of those who tested positive, 530 were Kenyans while 50 were foreigners aged between one and 92 years old.

“Unfortunately, we have lost 5 patients to the disease, bringing our fatality count to 465.”Dr Mwangangi said 

198 Kenyans recovered in the last 24 hours, 119 from home based care treatment while 79 were from health facilities, thus bringing total number of recoveries to 15,298.
