COVID-19 deaths near 400 after eight more people succumb

The COVID-19 death toll has risen to 399 on Thursday after eight more virus-related fatalities were reported within 24 hours.

Speaking during a regular briefing on the status of COVID-19, Health CAS Rashid Aman said that six people had underlying conditions while the rest did not have.

Aman further announced 514 new recoveries bringing the total number of recoveries in the country so far to 10,444, 431 patients who recovered in the last 24 hours were undergoing home-based care.

CAS further noted that the total documented cases since March 14 rose to 24,411 after 538 COVID-19 cases were detected from 6,175 samples examined within 24 hours.

The two coastal counties that recorded new COVID-19 cases are: Mombasa (7) and Kwale (1).
