Kisauni registers highest number of new COVID-19 cases

Kisauni sub-county on Monday registered the highest number of new COVID-19 cases.

This is after eight cases were recorded in the Sub-county which is Mombasa’s most populous sub-county.

21 cases were confirmed in Mombasa on Monday.

Likoni recorded five cases while Mvita recorded three.

Changamwe and Nyali recorded two cases each while Jomvu recorded one case.  

59 cases were confirmed on Monday against 260 cases that were confirmed on Sunday.

2717 tests were conducted on Monday according to the daily briefing issued by the health CAS Mercy Mwangangi.

“This brings to 4797 positive cases in the country and the number of samples tested so far is 142,366. All the 59 cases are Kenyans with 47 being males and 12 being female.” Dr.Mercy Mwangangi said.

Nairobi continued to take the lead in the number of positive cases at 28  while Kilifi recorded three cases with the cases being recorded in : Kaloleni, Kilifi South, and Kilifi North Sub counties.

 Kiambu and Machakos are recorded in two cases while Kisii Bungoma and Uasin Ngishu have one case each.

The number of new COVID-19 cases in the country dropped by more than 200 cases in the past 24 hours.

On Monday, the global infection rate surpassed the nine million mark with 471,316 lives having been lost to the deadly pandemic. 310,096 of the infections have been recorded in Africa with 8,176 deaths
