Changamwe records highest new COVID-19 cases in Coast region

Changamwe recorded the highest new COVID-19 infections in the Coast region on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Coast region recorded 39 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday out of which, 13 were from Changamwe.

The County with the most cases in the region was Mombasa with 33 cases, followed by Kilifi with five then Taita Taveta with one case.

The distribution of the new cases in Mombasa puts Changamwe with the most new case followed by Mvita with eight cases, Kisauni five, Jomvu four, Likoni two and Nyali one case.

The Taita Taveta case is in Taveta while all the five Kilifi cases are in Rabai.

Meanwhile, the national COVID-19 infection hit 4,478 after 104 people aged between one and 78 years tested positive for the disease.

Out of the number, 76 were male and 28 female.

Nairobi had the highest number of new infections with 60 cases followed by Mombasa.

“Today, 104 people have tested positive for #COVID19, from a sample size of 2820, in the last 24 hours. Total number of positive cases now stands at 4478. We have also discharged 36 patients, bringing the total recoveries to 1586,” said Health Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Rashid Aman.

Two more people died bringing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the country to 121.
