A COVID-19 patient who is among a group of five who escaped from Old Town just a day after health CS Mutahi Kagwe banned movement into and out of the area has been found dead.

This is according to the Coast Regional Coordinator John Elungata who said that the deceased was traced together with three of his accomplices.

“One of the escapees is still at large and police are still looking for him” Elungata added.

According to sources, the five of them had been tested a day before they decided to escape.

Three more COVID 19 cases were reported in Mombasa on Friday.

In a press briefing in Nairobi,Cabinet administrative secretary Rashid Aman said that the three cases are among 14 people who tested positive country wide in the last 24 hours.
Aman said  that other cases include: 10  from Nairobi ,One from Machakos and the said three from Mombasa totaling up to 621.

This comes amidst heightened tensions in areas bordering Tanzania and Somalia two countries that have recorded high cases of COVID-19.

On Thursday, twenty people were put on quarantine in Taita Taveta country after they were caught trying to sneak into the country from Tanzania.

“We are keeping a very keen eye ,on our southern border with Tanzania and off-course ,with Somalia our appeal to the public is that they should also become our public police to liaise with the security to inform them of any cases of people trying to sneak in.” Aman added.
