Six more test positive for COVID-19 in Mombasa

Mombasa County has confirmed six more COVID-19 infections in the last 24 hours.

According to Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, out of 707 samples tested, 7 people were confirmed positive in which, one was from Nairobi and six others were from the County of Mombasa.

This means that the total number of people infected with the disease now stands at 303 as per today Wednesday.

“Six are from targeted mass testing and one was picked by the surveillance team. With regard to gender, five are males and two females,” said CS Kagwe.

Nine more patients have been discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 83.

The country has tested 15,124 samples so far.

On the other hand, as part of containment measures, the government has directed restriction of movement into and out of Mandera county due to the unfolding situation in the county that has so far recorded 8 patients with the disease.

Mandera now becomes the fifth county after Mombasa, Kilifi, Kwale and Nairobi where movement has been restricted.
