COVID-19: Mombasa leading as county of origin of newly confirmed cases

Mombasa is leading as the county of origin of the latest patients who have tested positive for Coronavirus.

22 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the country bringing the number of confirmed cases to 81.

Seven of the 22 patients who have tested positive are from Mombasa county while Kilifi, Kakamega, Kiambu, Machakos, Muranga, Nairobi Nyamira each have one of the confirmed cases as their counties of origin.

This is according to the latest update from the health CS Mutahi Kagwe.

“ Out of the 22 who have tested positive, 21 are currently in quarantine which again highlights the importance of the exercise we are undertaking,” Mutahi said.

The other patient tested positive at a hospital in Mombasa.

18 of the patients who tested positive are Kenyans while 2 are Cameroonians and the other two are Pakistani nationals.

So far three Cameroonian nationals have tested positive for the virus in Kenya.

13 of the confirmed cases are male while nine are female.

This comes just a few hours after President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated Kenya’s index and third patients identified as Brenda and Brian over their conduct when they suspected they had contracted the virus.

The two of them have since recovered from the virus.
