Jambojet suspends Kigali and Entebbe flights

If you had booked a flight to Kigali, Rwanda or Entebbe, Uganda via Jambojet, contact the airline.

Jambojet has cancelled all its flights to Kigali and Entebbe due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

“Over the past few weeks there has been a global spread of the Covid-19 which has resulted in a decrease of airline passengers especially on the international routes. As a result, Jambojet has decided to suspend its services to Kigali, Rwanda and Entebbe, Uganda with immediate effect,” said Jambojet in a statement to newsrooms.

Flights to local destinations namely Malindi, Ukunda, Mombasa, Kisumu and Eldoret will continue to operate as scheduled.

“We would like to reiterate that the safety of our passengers and staff remains of utmost importance to us. We will continue to monitor the situation and share regular updates,” said the airline.

So far, Rwanda has reported seven cases of Coronavirus after two more people tested positive on Monday.

Meanwhile in Kenya, the number of cases is 20 out of which three are confirmed and are being treated at Kenyatta Natioanal Hospital.

Three out of the 17 remaining cases are in isolation while the other 14 are in quarantine, all awaiting results.

The government is training different sectors, including tax operators, public transport and bodaboda operators, prisons, police, National Youth Service, in order to enhance capacity in containing the spread of the virus.
