The Education ministry has revised the term dates for the 2020 academic year for pre-primary, primary and secondary schools, as well as teacher training colleges.

In a circular sent to regional directors of education, Principal Secretary for education, Belio Kipsang said the revised term dates will see candidates sit for their examinations earlier than had been programmed.

Schools will also close earlier in term three to pave way for national examinations.

Like in 2019, there will be no half-term break in the third term of 2020 according to the circular.

“Following stakeholders’ consultation, it has been found necessary to revise the term dates for the calendar year 2020 for schools and colleges,” read the circular.

In the latest directive, the closing date for all pre-primary, primary and secondary schools in term three has been moved from October 30, 2020 to 23rd October, while the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination will be held from October 26 to October 29, 2020.

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination will now take place between November 2nd and November 25th, 2020.

College students have been given an extra day holiday in term one as their closing date has been moved backwards to 9th April 2020 from the initial closing date of 10th April.

Primary and Secondary schools countrywide are currently on a week-long half-term break which began over the weekend and are expected to resume this Sunday.
