Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, has praised the late former president Daniel Toroitich arap Moi for the good things he did in transforming the country.

Speaking while eulogizing Moi at Nyayo national stadium, Raila said Moi introduced universal primary education among other things.

“He was human, he made great contributions, and like all human beings, he also had his other weaknesses. We remember the great things that he did: for example, introducing universal primary education to our country; free milk in school, the maziwa ya Nyayo; and trying to consolidate unity among the people of Kenya,” Raila said.

However, Raila noted that in as much as Moi was good, he had his misfortunes as a leader, citing himself as a victim of the circumstances.

“He was forgiving, like I’m also forgiving, and we made our peace and shook hands and then we worked together to bring the country a new constitution,” he added.

He added that they will use Moi’s experience of uniting Kenyans to bring the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) as a way of uniting Kenyans.
