Chinese nationals arrested for assaulting Kenyan detained

Four Chinese nationals arrested after one of them was captured on video assaulting a Kenyan in Kileleshwa have been detained.

The four were arraigned in Milimani courts for working without a permit, expired visa and assault charges.

Their bail application ruling will be in three days.

The Chinese nationals were arrested on Sunday morning by DCI following a public outcry from Kenyans on social media.

The DCI detectives arrested the suspected perpetrator Deng Hailan of Chez Wou restaurant after a video of him, caning one of his staff did rounds in sections of the press and social media with citizens demanding for his arrest.

The worker allegedly reported to work late.

The said video shows a male waiter being given several strokes of cane. At first the worker is caned while standing then he later lies flat on his stomach for last the stroke.
