Garissa, KENYA: Three teachers were on Monday morning killed following a suspected al-Shabaab attack at Kamuthe in Garissa County.
According to the National Police Service, the suspected assailants attacked Kamuthe Primary School, Kamuthe Police post and a telecommunication mast.
The 2 am attack left three teachers dead and a partially damaged telecommunication mast.
“The telecommunications mast is partially damaged but operational. Security agencies are pursuing the attackers. More information to follow,” read a tweet from the police Service.
Whilst security agencies have arrested several suspected al-Shabaab militants in the past weeks and even killed some, this is the third attack since the year started.
“I strongly condemn the cowardly terrorist attack in Kamuthe, Fafi Sub-County in which 3 non-local teachers were killed; another teacher and a pupil were injured. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to the injured,” said Garissa Governor Ali Korane.
