Likoni teacher arrested over allegedly defiling student

A primary school teacher is being held at the Likoni Police station for allegedly defiling a child aged 14 years old.

Daniel Opondo, 29 was arrested by members of public after the minor who had been reported missing since Sunday was found in his house.

Likoni OCPD Jane Munywoki has said that Opondo will be arraigned in Court on Wednesday to face defilement charges.

According to police reports, the suspect is a teacher employed by the parents at Timbwani Baptist school in Likoni Sub-county where the minor sat for her K.C.PE in 2019.

Munywoki has confirmed that the suspect was caught on Monday at about 3:00Pm with a school child in his house by the members of public and taken to Shelly police station before transferred to Likoni police station where he is held awaiting to be arraigned.

“The family of the girl who had just completed her class eight were in search for her since she went missing on Sunday at 2pm and learned that she was with her teacher at his home” said Munywoki.

“She was later taken to the Likoni sub County hospital for a medical test but found that services were not available so she was taken to the Coast general hospital where she was examined and reports filed.” Munywoki added.
