Parents of pupils schooling in Pendukiani primary school in Malindi Sub-county are now callinng on education authorities to intervene after the primary school was closed down three months ago.

Only the nursery school has remained open for the school which is located in Ganda ward with parents saying the poor infrastructure of the school is to be blamed.

According to Jane Kipruto one of the parents at the school, the school which hosts a nursery school and classes 1-4 has only one toilet.

“The school is nearby but our children have been forced to walk for long distances since it was closed down”Kipruto said.

Jane said she feared that the situation would affect the performance of the children who have since been transferred to Mkaoto primary school which is 3 kilometres away.

The ward has no MCA.

This is after the High Court nullified the 2017 election of Mr Abdulrahman Omar over irregularities and ordered IEBC to conduct a fresh election in accordance with the law.

Speaking on Saturday, the Jubilee party aspirant Joseph Kiponda blamed previous regimes for ignoring the state of the school.

“ It is very shocking that all this while, the school had no toilets and the regimes never did anything to construct them” Kiponda said.

This comes just a month after viral photos  of pupils sitting on blocks of in a flooded classroom exposed the poor state of Mangororo primary school in neighboring Ganze constituency.
