A section of members of parliament have called on the government to extend the ongoing Huduma number registration exercise.
Speaking at parliament buildings led by member of parliament representing people living with disability ,Denittah Ghatti, the legislators said that there is need for the government to extend the exercise following the fact that only 32 million Kenyans have registered out of the targeted number of 40 million Kenyans.
Ghatti pointed that marginalized groups including people  living with disability and children have not been captured well in the exercise a factor prompting them to call for extension.
“Matiangi should extend the Huduma exercise for one month,32 million Kenyans have registered, 8 million have not registered.”Ghatti said
Interior cabinet secretary Fred Matiangi vehemently pointed that the government will not extend the Huduma number deadline slated for 18th of May due to financial constrains.
On Friday, long queues were experienced in several parts of the country as Kenyans rushed to beat the Huduma number registration deadline.
