Nairobi, KENYA: The national roll-out of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) will not be stopped.

Speaking on Wednesday during the launch of the National Curriculum Policy at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development headquarters in Nairobi, Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha said they will instead step up continuous engagements and deal with problems as they emerge.

“We have held more than 20 consultative meetings on CBC over the last month including teachers and parents associations,” said Prof. Magoha.

Magoha said Roadmap for CBC roll-out in Grade 4 in 2020 will be ready by September.

“I have made critical staff changes at the Ministry to enable me deliver the CBC,” he added.

The CS said the ministry will hold a National Conference on CBC in August, but first they will be launching a National Conversation on the same through National Quality Dialogues.

The CS slammed Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) for slowing down the implementation of the new curriculum.
