Mombasa, KENYA: Likoni Deputy OCS Joab Omondi has commited suicide after shooting girlfriend in the head following a quarrel at Lovely Bar in Mtongwe.
According to police reports, an incident of a shooting at Soko Mjinga area in Mtongwe location was reported at Inuka police station by a good samaritan at 10:40pm on Thursday.
“Police rushed to the scene and established that one No.228569 Ip AP Joab Omondi of Dapc Likoni sub-county and attached to Likoni Police station as the Deputy Ocs, from a reliable source picked a quarrel with one lady namely Peninah Kaimenyi meru tribesmwoman aged 25 yrs mugoga vender at Lovely Bar,” read the report.
The Deputy Ocs then shot Peninah in the head before turning the gun to his head.
Peninah was rushed to Coast General hospital where she succumbed to her bullet wound injuries.
The firearm which was used in the shooting, a ceska pistol s/No.G5969, was recovered with 11 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Bodies of the deceased have been moved to Coast General Hospital mortuary.
Police are carrying investigations to establish the motive of the shooting.
