British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe is exploring the possibility of buying Chelsea from current owner Roman Abramovic .
Ratcliffe made his fortune by founding petrochemicals company Ineos and is thought to have a net wealth of £21billion.
According to Times, he has held talks with Chelsea over a potential take over.
Ratcliffe, who grew as a Manchester United fan owns a football outfit Lausanne-Sport, who ply their trade in the top-flight in Switzerland.
Abramovich has become an increasingly distant figure due to problems with his visa having withdrawn plans to rebuild Stamford Bridge.
According to reports, Chelsea is not for sale, though Ratcliffe is some way off, with the Blues owner demanding £2.5billion
The two parties are nowhere near an agreement at this stage, but Ratcliffe remains hopeful he will become the next Stamford Bridge chief.
