Impala rugby player Richard Sidindi alias Jadhah power has died after drowning in a swimming pool on Monday.
Reports by the rugby club state that the player drowned at Impala sports club swimming pool in Nairobi.
“It appears that there was some swimming pool incident where Sidindi was alone but we are still gathering information on what really happened,” said Impala Saracens Director of Rugby, Fred Ollows.
The director has recorded a statement with Kilimani police station promising to release the full details as police carry on with investigation.
The death of Sidindi has been received with shock by his head coach Frank Ndong maintaining that the player was a good swimmer.
“We are trying to find out what really happened since he was a good swimmer,” said Ndong.
Richard Sidindi last featured for Impala Saracen last weekend where the team lost to Homeboys in Eric Shirley Shield.
He was an Information Technology specialist having joined Impala Saracens in 2011 from Kisumu Rugby club and has also played for Kenya Shujaa at Safari sevens.
