Court detains Benin national over causing disturbance

Mombasa, KENYA:A Benin national has been detained over causing disturbance in Mombasa.

This was after the accused was arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts on Monday after being charged with disturbance of peace in Kisauni area, Mombasa county on 16th of February.

The accused, identified as Minakpode Rissikatou has however pleaded not guilty on the first count with charges reading that she declared “no peace” at the office of Abdalla Awadh within the same area following an interpersonal conflict.

She is also charged with being in the country unlawfully after having being discovered that she was lacking legal documents that allowed her to be in the country.

The accused explained to the court that her documents had expired thus pleading guilty.

Senior Principal magistrate Yusuf Shikanda has presented with the accused’ passport that was then discovered to have expired on 2016 further revealing that she had been in the country since 2015.

The case will be mentioned on 21st February.
