Mombasa,KENYA: Controversial singer Akothee says she will continue to wear provocatively while dismissing those castigating her mode of dressing.
Speaking at Baraka FM on Mziki Mzuka show on Friday, Akothee revealed that she was once a religious lady as her ex-husband was a church elder.
However, things did not work out and the couple divorced which led the “church” to turn their backs on her and blamed her for the divorce.
“They denied me when my husband who was a staunch Christian told them that I am a bad woman”. They believed him and they did not want to associate with me,” she said.
The abebo hitmaker says she decided to do secular songs instead of gospel songs as a form of protest to people that turned their backs on her.
“I decided to do secular songs after people I trusted saw me as a bad person when we divorced.They all blamed me,” she said.
Nevertheless, Akothee a.k.a “The madam boss” hopes to one day to do gospel music.
