Nairobi, KENYA: Wiper democratic movement has issued a direct ticket to Julius Musili Mawathe as the party’s choice in the coming Embakasi South by-election.

Addressing members of the fourth estate at the party headquarters, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said, it is going to be a tough race between Wiper party and Orange Democratic Movement ODM Party which has nominated Irshad Sumra as its party flag bearer in the coming election on April 5 2019.

“We have no doubt that Honorable Julius Mawathe will retain this seat; earlier he was announced the winner by over 33,000 votes but this time round if it will be small, it will not go less than 50,000 plus votes,” Kalonzo said.

He however, called on Embakasi residents to come out in large numbers, also urging employers to at least provide time for employees to go and vote as their democratic right.

Kalonzo further, congratulated Jubilee party for their bold move of not presenting a candidate to compete for the seat in the spirit of the handshake.

On December 21,2018, supreme court nullified Embakasi south elections on grounds that the MP was not validly elected.

Former MP Irshad Sumra, who successfully challenged Mawathe’s win has been traversing the constituency and holding meeting with residents in bid to consolidate his votes.
