Tanzanian artists Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny will now be able to perform their music in Tanzania.

This is after Baraza la Sanaa Tanzania (Basata) lifted the ban that was imposed on the two artists late last year.

The Tanzania music authority, BASATA, had prohibited the two from performing in the country after they disobeyed orders banning their song ‘mwanza’ and went ahead to perform it in Mwanza at the Wasafi festival.

The authority had earlier banned them from performing within and outside the country but later limited them to only performing outside Tanzania.

“The music board (BASATA) wishes to make an announcement that from 22/01/2019 the ban on Diamond Platnumz and Rayvanny has been lifted after they offered a public apology,” read part of the statement.

Despite the board lifting the ban on the two artists, their song ‘mwanza’ is still prohibited in Tanzania.

The board said it will keenly monitor the activities of the Wasafi Recording label to ensure they adhere fully to the set moral guidelines.
