Al Shabaab claim responsibility for Dusit attack

 Nairobi, KENYA: Alshabaab militants have claimed responsibility for the Dusit D2 attack in Nairobi’s 14 Riverside,  Qatar based Al Jazeera has reported.

An Alshabaab spokesperson was quoted by the media house saying:

” We are currently conducting an operation in Nairobi”

This follows a huge explosion and gunfire in the area.

The building has offices and a hotel. Police drawn from several units are currently on the scene.

“The National Police specialized units are on site at 14 Riverside Drive to engage the attackers. Please utilize this channel for all official information and refrain from re-tweeting unconfirmed news.” Police have said confirming the attack.

The attack comes exactly three years after the El Adde attack where Alshabaab militants overrun a camp in Gede region of Somalia.
