Kwale, KENYA: Police in Kwale county is investigating an incident where a man was lynched by an angry mob at Mbegani-Burani village in Matuga sub-county.

The 27-year-old identified as Kimani Mwendo is said to have attempted to kill his father Francis Kimani Mwendo after they disagreed over the sale of a goat.

Confirming the incident, Matuga OCPD Joel Chesire said the deceased wanted to take the goats so that he can sell them but his father was against the idea.

“He came home and wanted to take his father’s goat but upon being asked where he was taking the goat, the deceased attacked his father with an arrow but the father managed to run away calling for help from the nearby villagers,” he said.

As the drama between a father and a son intensified, more people who heard the commotion streamed into the compound to try to quell the drama.

However, Chesire added that the infuriated son, however, turned his anger on three villagers stabbing them with his arrow.

The move infuriated the villagers who turned to the young man beating him to death.

The body of the deceased was taken to Msambweni referral hospital for post-mortem examination as the other three people received treatment and were later discharged from the hospital.

However, Chesireurged residents to report any cases of violation of law to the police instead of taking the law into their own hands.

“I urge you when such incidents occur do not take the law into your own hands but instead arrest the culprit and inform the police,” he added.
