Two injured in Mtwapa morning accident

Mombasa, KENYA: Two people sustained injuries following a Friday morning accident in Mtwapa area of Kilifi county.

The accident which happened near the Oasis hospital involved a staff bus belonging to the Vipingo Ridge,  a bus belonging to the Garissa PSV Sacco and a saloon vehicle which had been parked on the roadside.

According to the Kilifi county police commander Frederick Ochieng, who confirmed the accident, the driver of the bus which was headed towards the Kilifi direction lost control of the vehicle and rammed on an oncoming staff bus which was headed towards the Kilifi direction.

“ The staff bus the hit a stationary vehicle which had been parked on the roadside” Ochieng told Baraka FM.

The driver of the staff bus sustained arm and head injuries while a passenger who was in the bus sustained light head injuries.

They were rushed to the Kilifi county referral hospital.

This comes just a few days after 10 people sustained serious injuries in Magarini sub-county after a Nissan matatu collided with a Tuk Tuk.
