Mombasa, KENYA: Detectives from the Homicide department have arrested three men linked to the murder of the former Kilifi Deputy governor Kenneth Makombo Kamto.

The three were arrested in Kisumu Ndogo area on Friday.

According to the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti who spoke to Baraka FM, the three were trailed to the area after a forensic scene analysis was conducted.

“In the course of the arrest, the handset stolen from the housemaid during the shooting to death of Kenneth Makombo Kamto the former deputy governor was also recovered,” Kinoti told Baraka FM.

Earlier in the day, the Kisauni OCPD Musa Sangura told Baraka FM that Homicide detectives from Nairobi had camped in the area for the past few weeks.

Kamto who served under the current Kilifi governor Amason Kingi before decamping to the Jubilee party was shot to death in the wee hours of 12th December at his house in Nyali estate.

Kenneth had just left a nightclub in the upmarket neighborhood when the gunmen attacked him outside his gate forcing their way into his house.

Though the motive of the attack is not known, the gunmen are said to have made away with cash and several mobile phones.

During his burial on 19th December, in Rabai, Kilifi county, leaders had called on detectives to unravel the faces behind the gruesome murder.
