Two university students drown in Kilifi

Kilifi, KENYA: Two Pwani university students drowned in different circumstances on Christmas day in Kilifi County.

Cruzze Mutsoli a second year student aged 22 years drowned at around 6pm while swimming at Boabab public beach.

His body was retrieved and taken to Kilifi County hospital mortuary waiting for postmortem.

In another incident, 21 year old Mongore David drowned at Makuti Villa’s swimming pool and passed away while receiving treatment at Mephi hospital.

Kilifi police commander Fredrick Ochieng’ has confirmed the incidents and called upon university staff to advice the students whenever going for swimming.

“The management of the premises with swimming pool facilities should also not allow their clients to go swimming without swimming professionals,” said Ochieng’.
