Mombasa, KENYA: Coast regional commander Noah Mwivanda has banned boda-bodas operations in parts of Mombasa ahead of Christmas celebrations.

Mwivanda said that criminal groups operating in Mombasa have been using boda-bodas to terrorize residents.

“We are not going to allow boda-boda operate in Mombasa past 8pm until the festive season is over,” said Mwivanda.

Areas that will be affected include Kisauni, Likoni and parts of Mombasa Central business district.

This comes shortly after three people were killed by robbers in Kisauni.

“We believe Silvia Romano is still a live and soon we will rescue her,” said Mwivanda.

Romano was abducted early December at her home in Kilifi County.

Fourteen people have been arrested and are helping police with investigations.
