Mishomoroni mother gave us baby willingly, man tells court

Mombasa, KENYA: A man has been arraigned at the Shanzu Law Courts on Monday with charges of liaising the theft of baby Consolata who was recovered in Molo, Nakuru sub-county after her parents reported that she had disappeared from her home in Mishomoroni.

Samwel Ndinguri who is the husband to the woman who was found with the baby has pleaded not guilty before senior principal magistrate Diana Mochache.

He further explained to the court that the baby’s mother, Joyce Wairimu voluntarily gave him the baby upon an agreement for him and his wife(Margaret Wairimu) should bring up bring up the baby.

Last week, Wairimu told the court that the baby’s father Peter Kinuthia wanted to kill the baby and kill himself and hence they pleaded with him not to kill the baby but rather hand the baby over to them which they did together with the baby’s clothes.

Joyce’s husband Peter Kinuthia also appeared before the court requesting that his wife be released on bond arguing that their other two children are suffering.

However, Magistrate Mochache dismissed the request for bond and custody of baby Consolata.
Mentioning will be on 20th December.
