Kwale, KENYA: Police in Kwale county have seized 40kg of marijuana and another 200 rolls of bhang worth Sh. 200,000 at Magandia roadblock along the Likoni-Lunga Lunga highway.

Confirming the incident, Matuga OCPD Joel Chesire said the bhang was discovered after police officers intercepted two suspects who were on a motorbike but they defied the order leaving the marijuana behind.

“Police tried to stop two people driving on a motorcycle for inspection but they refused and managed to escape leaving behind the bhang packed in a sack,” he said.

Chesire claimed the bhang was being ferried to Likoni from neighboring Tanzania saying the stimulant comes from other places only to be consumed in the county.

He said that police have launched a manhunt for the owners warning that those found behind the illegal business will be apprehended.

“We will not allow drug dealers to destroy the lives of our young people and that is why police are on the lookout to see those smuggling drugs into the county,” he said.
