Man killed over Mkokoteni theft in Malindi

Kilifi, KENYA: A man has been killed by an angry mob in Malindi on theft allegations.
The incident occured at Furunzi village in the outskirts of Malindi town on Wednesday.
Karisa Kaingu,26, who hails from the aforementioned village is alleged to have stolen the cart from one of the area residents.
Acting chief of Malindi location Wilfred Nyiro who confirmed the incident said the deceased had a habit of stealing .
“The deceased has been having this tendency of stealing from the residents here for sometime now,” Nyiro said.
“I received the information from residents on the incident. I contacted the police who went to the scene of  crime,” he said.
It is also alleged that the deceased is mentally unfit and that he has been stealing out of his health status.
The body of the deceased is preserves at Malindi Level four hospital pending an autopsy.
