Kwale,KENYA:Police in Kwale County have nabbed over 160 roles of marijuana worth sh. 70,000 at Mbuguni area, Matuga sub-county.

According to Matuga OCPD Joel Chesire, the marijuana was seized on Saturday evening at around 5.pm when it was being ferried on a motorbike by Victor Ochieng Mwenda from Mariakani, Kilifi County to an unknown destination.

Chesire said the suspect was intercepted by police after they received reports from locals who knew about that had been packed in two bags.

“We were informed by locals and without hesitating, police set up a road block and thats when they arrested the suspect” he said.

He stated that it is not the first time for such an incident to occur in the area saying that suspects have been ferrying the stimulant from Kilifi to Kwale County.

“The bhang has been coming from Mariakani, Kilifi County but we are vigilant as we are yet to identify the exact place where it is usually ferried to  as well as apprehend the people behind the illegal business,” he added.

Chesire said that police have launched investigations into the matter to establish where the bhang was destined to by the suspect who was arraigned in court to face charges.” he said.
