Nairobi, KENYA: Kenya Football Federation on Sunday received a letter from the Confederation of African Football calling off the 2019 AFCON match qualifier against Harambee stars and Sierra Leone.
This is following the suspension imposed on Sierra Leone by the world football governing body FIFA from participating in any football activity
The match had been scheduled for November 17 at the Moi international sports centre in Nairobi.
Sierra Leone who defeated Kenya by 2-1 in June last year, also forfeited their match against Ghana last month.
So far, Kenya stands on top of Group F with seven points, Ethiopia second with four, Ghana third with three as struggling Sierra Leone sits last.
Stars and Ethiopia have played four matches while Ghana and Sierra Leone have played only two.
Confederation of African Football has however promised to give more direction on the Group F matches as Harambee stars remain optimistic to break their 14-year absence at AFCON.
The top two teams from each group will automatically qualify for the tournament set to be held in Cameroon next year.
