16 suspects remanded for 5 days over exam malpractice

16 people who were arrested on Monday over exam malpractice have been remanded for 5 days to allow police to conclude probe.

The 16 who were arrested at Monianku Secondary School in Kisii, were allegedly in possession of Chemistry papers while the exam was still ongoing.

Among those who were arrested are exam officials, the invigilator, supervisor and Monianku secondary school deputy principal.

The owner of the house where the examination papers were being copied managed to escape.

Investigations are still ongoing to determine whether Monianku secondary had used the leaked papers.

222 examination centers put under surveillance

In 2017 a total number of 1200 students in Kisii had the examination results canceled due to exam cheating.
