Mombasa, KENYA: Korean Taekwondo players landed in Mombasa on Wednesday morning ahead of the Thursday Kukkiwon World demonstration.
The demonstration which will see players exhibit their unique taekwondo talent will be held at Treasury square with Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho expected to grace the event.
Association Chairman Kim Kyu Jong said majority of the participants are drawn from the Republic of Korea where the martial art was first developed in 1940s.
Jong also added that the main aim of the one day event is to promote the sport at the grassroots level.
Mombasa is hosting the event for the first time with Nairobi having hosted the previous ones.
Taekwondo Kenya federation Coast branch secretary Crispin Mwadime said the demonstration aims to promote and nurture talent in the county.
The event is organized by Coast Taekwondo Association in collaboration with the county Government of Mombasa.
