Harambee starlets striker joins Israeli team

Nairobi, KENYA: Harambee starlets striker Essie Akida on Thursday penned down a two year lucrative deal with Israel side Hapoel Morasha Ramat.

 24-year-old Akida was part of the Harambee Starlets squad that qualified for women’s African cup of Nations in 2016.

The former Thika queens striker expressed her joy after for having got a chance to play at her new signed club.

 “I am very delighted. Joining this club is a dream come true for me and I can’t wait to get started. I know it won’t be easy and I am ready for the challenge, but I believe that I will make a good name for myself if I work hard,” said Akida.

Akida becomes fourth on the Kenyan high profile player list to be signed professionally after Terry Engesha, Mary Kinuthia and Chris Nafula crossed over to Sweden.

She will wear jersey number 14 at her new club.
