National women’s volleyball team Malkia Strikers has been eliminated from the ongoing FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship in Japan.
The African champions lost their fourth consecutive match on Thursday going down by straight sets at the hands of Caribbean side Dominican Republic.
Kenya started the campaign with promising performance when they beat Kazakhstan (3-0) in their opening match only to lose her subsequent matches.
Kenya head coach Japheth Munala praised his opponents saying they were Malkia’s toughest opponents in the competitions.
“We wanted to play well against the Dominican Republic but they destroyed our reception and were fast on the counterattack. I wish them success in the next round and I hope they go all the way to the final,” he told the FIVB website.
Kenya sits second the last position in pool D as they return home having won only once in five matches.
