Nairobi. KENYA: Kenyan Premier League club Mathare United has landed a lucrative sponsorship deal with gambling firm Odibet.
The deal signed on Wednesday will see the 2008 KPL champions wear OdiBets branded kits for the three coming seasons in an agreement believed to worth Sh60 million.
According to Odibets marketing manager Dedan Mungai, they choose to partner with Mathare United because it’s one of the most promising and dedicated teams in KPL.
“We are really excited to announce this partnership with Mathare United FC, a club with great heritage and significance in Kenya’s footballing scene,” said Mungai.
The firm will also conduct gaming activities that will enable them groom and nurture upcoming talents from grassroots.
“OdiBets is keen on imparting positively on grassroots football and our partnership with Mathare United offers a great opportunity to do that,” Mungai said.
According to Mathare United chairman Bob Munro, the sponsorship is key as they strategize on how to bounce back to hunt for the title come next season.
Mather United are placed eighth in the 18-team Kenyan Premier League table standings having amassed 47 points with one match remaining before the season come to close.
