Nairobi. KENYA: National women’s volleyball team Malkia strikers are set to jet off to Japan later on Tuesday ahead of the world championship scheduled for September 29 in Tokyo.

The team will have a 10-day training camp in Tokyo before the kick-off of the tournament where it has been pooled alongside defending champions Brazil, Serbia, Dominican Republic, Kazakhstan, and Puerto Rico.

Fret had hit Malkia Strikers camp on Monday following a communication hitch between Kenya Volleyball Federation and the Ministry of Sports due to traveling tickets.

Federation manager Isaac Tirop, however, confirmed the availability of the tickets by Monday evening after fruitful talks with the ministry.

The team is however disappointed with the ministry of sports for what they say as “negligence” following their preparation for the tournament.

Meanwhile, Malkia are aiming to finish top in pool D to qualify for a maiden second round having failed in her previous attempts in the competition which brings together 24 teams.
