Nairobi, KENYA: Kenya Basketball women’s league reigning champions Kenya Ports Authority suffered yet another defeat in their quest to retain the title, going down 48-42 at the hands of bankers Equity Hawks at USIU courts on at the weekend.

The victory not only saw Equity end its losing streak but handed them a famous victory over the Dockers who have been beating them since 2016.

KPA started the game on a high note leading the first quarter 11-6, thanks to two three pointers from Brenda Angeshi and Betty Kananu.

The Hawks would then respond in the second quarter through contributions by Samba mjomba, Belinda Akoth and Hilda Indasi to narrowly trail 18-14.

Equity turned tables in the third quarter to lead 37-34, before sealing victory in the last quarter.

The defeat continues KPA’s stumble since the departure of dependable star Felmas Adhiambo.
