Newly crowned Marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge has been gifted a brand new D-max double cabin pick-up by Isuzu East Africa.
The vehicle, received by Kipchoge’s wife on his behalf in Eldoret, is part of the 20 million deal signed by the athlete and Isuzu East Africa prior to his victory in Germany on Sunday.
Rita Kavashe, Isuzu EA managing director, praised Kipchoge and celebrated their partnership over the years.
“Through his world-class performances, he has demonstrated remarkable strength, resilience, and reliability in the races he has participated in.
We’ve seen great value in bringing together these two strong brands. We are proud to have Eliud as our Isuzu D max brand ambassador,” said Kavashe.
Kipchoge had been promised the car should he break the world record of 2:02:57 set by Dennis Kimetto in 2014.
The deal saw Kipchoge pocket Sh. 7m and the keys to the brand new car that he will use during his personal training.
Eliud Kipchoge became the only man to have run a marathon race under the 2 hours and two minutes mark after he set a new world record crossing the line in 2:01:39 in the 42nd edition of the Berlin Marathon.
