Harambee stars striker Michael Olunga believes it’s the right time for Kenya to qualify for AFCON 2019.
The Japan-based forward helped stars pick up 3 points during the weekend when he exerted pressure on Ghanian defender Nicholas Opuko to score an own goal at the 42nd minute while he attempted to clear Eric Johanna’s cross.
Harambee Stars are now on level points with Ghana after two rounds ahead of their back-to-back match against Ethiopia in October.
“I believe the time has come for us to make it back to the AFCON after years out. Personally, I have to work hard and make home fans proud by scoring goals whenever I get a chance”,said Olunga.
He also said that he is honored having played for the National team and he hopes for the same motivation from fans with the two more home games ahead of them.
The former Gor Mahia star also applauded Kenya Football Federation (FKF) for their support but challenged the government, through the ministry of sports, to clear the team’s budget on time.
