Manchester city versatile defender Jason Denayer has left the club for Lyon on a permanent deal.

The 23-year-old joined City’s academy in July 2013 but failed to make a single appearance for the club’s first team.

Jason spent last season with Galatasaray making 22 appearances and scoring once.

Over the past four years, the 23-year-old has enjoyed various loan spells with Celtic, Sunderland and Galatasaray.

The defender was once named the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year and Celtic’s Young Player of the Year Having helped the Hoops to Scottish Premiership and League Cup successes in the 2014/15 season.

On the international stage, he broke into Belgium’s senior squad in 2015, after representing the Under-19s and U21s, and has made eight appearances for the Red Devils.

“Everyone at Manchester City would like to wish Jason the very best of luck in his career.” Manchester city said on his departure.

Celtic, Galatasaray and Torino were also interested in acquiring the defender.

The centre-back becomes Lyon’s fifth signing of the summer.
