Businessman who tried to bribe Governor Sonko charged in Mombasa

Mombasa, KENYA: Nairobi businessman Praful Kumar Saula was on Wednesday charged in a Mombasa court with three counts of bribery.

Kumar was charged with trying to offer sh5 million to Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko, giving governor Sonko sh1 million and also trying to offer Sonko another sh1 million in order to approve and continue with the construction on land no. LR.91/239 in a case in which Sonko is involved.

The suspect was arrested with EACC on 20th August 2018, at Kanamai area within Kilifi County.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges before Mombasa principle magistrate Henry Nyakweba.

Nyakweba ordered the accused person detained at Port police pending bond ruling on Thursday.
