Kilifi,KENYA:Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission on Monday evening arrested Nairobi businessman Praful Kumar for offering a bribe of sh 1 million to Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko to facilitate approval of his hotel that is under construction in Gigiri.
The businessman was arrested in Sonko’s residence in Kanamai, Kilifi County.
In an eight minute alleged leaked conversation between the businessman and the Nairobi governor, Sonko warns Praful of trying to bribe him.
“I will jail you my friend, if you come to me with money, I will put you in a cell with that money,” said Sonko.
The County Government of Nairobi had stopped the construction of Praful’s Grand Manor hotel last week on Thursday.
Praful will be arraigned in court on Wednesday to answer corruption charges.
